SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY

In addition to Prof. Gerard Marguerie expertise, Arteria has thorough experienced international researchers among its sharehoders being part of the Scientific Committee.

Prof. Lina Badimon obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Barcelona in 1979. Following post-doctoral studies at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota), she became Assistant Professor in Medicine and then Director of Research of the cardiology research laboratory of the Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York). From 1991 to 1994 she was a lecturer at in Medicine atHarvard Medical School and consultant at the Cardiac Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Prof. Badimon is President of the Spanish Atherosclerosis Society and the European Society for Clinical Research. Prof. Badimon was appointed as Chairperson of the Scientific and Standardization Committee on animal, cellular and molecular models of thrombosis and homeostasis. She is currently Director of the Cardiovascular Research Centre of the School of Medicine, Hospital Santa Creu i San Pau (Autonomous University of Barcelona), where she holds the Catalan-Occidente Chair in cardiovascular research. Lina Badimon is a consultant and reviewer for many US and European publications.

Dr John Louis McGregor is first Ph.D. from the Physics Department at King’s College, University of London. He also obtained a Ph.D. in human biology from the Faculty of Medicine Alexis Carrel in Lyon. Dr McGregor became a Director of Research at INSERM in 1986 and a Director of INSERM Unit 331 in 1990. He has served on a number of INSERM Committees covering cardiovascular diseases and was co-ordinator of a European Network on Atherosclerosis. Dr McGregor was appointed as a consultant Associate Professor at Stanford Medical School. He has worked as a consultant with a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on a world wide basis. In particular, he acted as a consultant Director of Medical Research and Genomic Resource for Genset S.A. in Paris. He was involved in the creation of Surgen, a joint venture between Genset and the Royal College of Surgeons, in Dublin. Dr McGregor played a key role in the creation of Clinigenetics by rallying the founders and being awarded in October 1999, by the French Ministry of research, seed funds for the start-up.

Dr. Robin Poston, MD, studied medicine at Cambridge University and obtained his MD in 1981, and completed his training at the Middlesex Hospital. He worked as a research associate inthe Immunology Department, studying lipoprotein-related autoimmunity and was later appointed as a lecturer in the Pathology Department of Guy’s Hospital. He qualified as a member of the College of Pathologists, specializing in immunopathology. In 1982, Dr. Poston established a diagnostics service for Guy’s Hospital based on the newly discovered immunohistochemistry; this involved writing software for generating reports and the creation of a database. In 1984, he was appointed Senior Lecturer, and in 1987 Honorary Consultant in Immunopathology. Dr. Poston joined a separate Department of Experimental Pathology that was formed in 1990, focusing on the involvement of cellular adhesion molecules in atherosclerosis and the development of functional assays. In 1999, Dr. Poston joined the Centre for Cardiovascular Biology and Medicine at Guy’s Hospital, which was founded following the amalgamation of the Medical School with King’s College, London.

Pr. Jean-Robert Rapin is a Professor of Pharmacy at University of Bourgogne in Dijon. He is an expert in pharmacology and toxicology. His research on brain aging and risk factors for brain vascular accidents has been documented in over 100 publications. Over the last 10 years he specialized in the micronutrient area, creating a new diploma on micro nutrition which he is in charge of. This new area has been developed particularly in diabetes with new proposals for nutritionally-induced therapeutic approaches aimed at improving glycemic control. J.Rapin is a member of several international scientific societies

In addition, ARTERIA  implies international medical experts to validate and support the development of its compounds.
